The annual University Career Fair Days provide an opportunity for Cornell students to meet with representatives from a large number of organizations over a two-day period on campus. For 2017, University Career Fair Days will be held September 6 and 7. This event is limited to the Cornell Community.
A wide variety of employers attend—ranging from Fortune 500 to government and nonprofit organizations. These employers attend Cornell's career fair events to increase corporate visibility, to illustrate the benefits of employment in their organization, and to provide information to Cornell students about entry-level jobs, co-op opportunities, and internships. Information about participating employers will be available in mid-August. These employer details will help you plan your strategy for your career fair visit. In addition, the Employer Directory, containing brief employer profiles, will be available at the Career Fair. A representative list of employers and type of opportunity can be found by searching this year's list of participating organizations through Handshake.
Many of these organizations also participate in Cornell's On-Campus Recruiting program and use University Career Fair Days as a kick-off for the recruiting season. Others attend to introduce Cornell students to their organization and to collect resumes for future openings.
Students need to prepare in advance for participation in Career Fair Days, writing a well developed resume and practicing a "quick pitch" to explain their interests and abilities. Cornell Career Services offers workshops to help students get ready for career events; check the print or online Event Calendar for times and locations.
