What is CUeLINKS?
CUeLINKS (cuelinks.cornell.edu) is a university-wide online networking platform where community members can connect with the people and resources they need to achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. Knowledge seekers (students) can connect with knowledge sharers (alumni or peers) to share information, such as:
|• Career/industry Trends||• Diversity at Cornell|
|• Adjustment to Life After School||• Gender Equality in the Workplace|
|• Navigating the Cornell Experience||• Applying to Graduate School|
|• First-Generation Student Experiences||• Job-Search Experience|
|• Job Shadowing||• Work-Life Balance|
|• Transfer Student Experience||• Navigating the PhD|
|• International Student Experience||• Career Readiness|
Why was CUeLINKS created?
Students need information that others have on navigating Cornell, deciding on career paths, and making life choices. Cornell’s alumni network is a significant benefit and resource for students and can offer an advisory board-approach for personal as well as professional knowledge sharing.

What happens when I sign up?
We will recommend connections based on your profile information. You can also browse our community of professionals by industry, major, location and more by using the various filters.
Once you reach out to connect (either via message or to request a meeting) and someone accepts your request, you are officially paired and can set up goals or reminders to help you make the most of your relationship.
Check out the Discussion tab to post questions to community members and see how they respond. We also share resources (podcasts, articles, and videos) that you might find interesting during your career exploration.
How can I get the most out of this program?
Be active! Ask questions, reach out to new people, visit the discussion page, and check out our resources. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. People are waiting for you to connect with them. Everyone in our community is here to support you.
What if I don't know what to say?
Not everything has to be a request for a job or an internship. Ask some genuine open ended "what" and "how" questions. For example, "What are you passionate about in your career?" Let your curiosity guide you!
And don't worry, we'll help you craft a professional message.
What if I'm not sure I want a formal connection?
Browse the network and start reaching out. You never know when a conversation will turn into a lasting connection! Connections can take many forms.
When you are ready to find a formal knowledge sharer to work through goals together, navigate to the Cornell Network section of the site.
What do I do once I've connected with a knowledge sharer?
Let the knowledge sharer know how you want to communicate (phone, email, in person, etc.) and how often. Set a regular meeting/check-in time to ensure you stay in touch. Think about your goals for the connection and set them up in the system so you can work toward achieving them (we suggest some goals to help you out). Write down your initial questions, or check out the Resources tabs for suggestions. Think about what you'd like to share about yourself.
Who can see my profile information?
The Cornell Network (Alumni) cannot view your profile until you make a request. Other students can view your profile if you have opted in to be a knowledge sharer. Once you make a connection request, that individual will be able to view your profile.
I reached out to someone, and did not receive a response. What should I do?
Give them a few days and try sending a follow-up message. If after 7 days you don't hear from your requested connection, we'll cancel the request, and you can request someone else. If you're still having issues, feel free to reach out to our office at email@example.com.
How do I report inappropriate conduct?
Click the red Report User button in your inbox in the message thread with the person in question.
How do I change the number of emails I receive?
Just click on your profile picture on the top right hand side of your screen and go to preferences. Next, change the notification preferences on your network activity updates.
How do I change my email address?
Just click on your profile picture on the top right hand side of your screen and go to preferences. Click on Update under Update Email Address. Note that if you use your email address to sign in to the site, then you will have to sign in with this new email address.
What devices/browsers support video chat?
We support video chat on modern browsers and operating systems with the following exceptions. The Safari internet browser is not supported. We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. iOS (iPhone, iPad) is not supported. We recommend using another video chat service (e.g. FaceTime) or using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on your laptop or desktop computer.
I'm having technical issues with the site. What can I do?
Use our help button (the question mark) when you are in the platform to submit a ticket. If you are having trouble accessing the system, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I search for Cornell Alumni?
Use the navigation bar to search Cornell Alumni through the Cornell Network tab. Then, use the search bar to type in search words, phrases, etc., or use the other filters available to find alumni to help answer your questions.
Should I use CUeLINKS instead of LinkedIn?
No! CUeLINKS is an amazing resource and with so many alumni volunteering, it’s another great way to connect with alumni who want to provide a resource for students. CUeLINKS is the networking platform for the Cornell Community. LinkedIn has over 600 million users and is another important tool to connect with Cornell Alumni and other professionals.
Can I participate if I am studying abroad?
Yes, we have alumni from all over the world who have volunteered to participate on this platform. Using CUeLINKS is a great opportunity to continue exploring careers, connecting with Cornell alumni and finding the resources to help you work towards your personal and professional goals. The system allows you to indicate your time zone in case you are connecting with someone in a different time zone.
Can I participate in more than one opportunity?
Yes. Students are eligible to connect to up to 10 alumni per month. This limit helps to ensure that every student has the opportunity to connect with Alumni in the system.
What if I can’t find available Alumni in my field/location?
New Alumni are joining the system every day. We recommend that you create a search alert found on the Cornell Community page.
Do I have to participate in an information session?
No. Information sessions are not required, however they will continue to be offered to provide a general overview of the program. You are also welcome to connect with our office to schedule an individual meeting with one of our career coaches.
